I See Your Face at Night
I rest my head beneath a sheet of stars,
Each light reflects your gentle eyes’ green flame.
My dreams softly descend from near, from far,
Every last one whispering your name.
Such moments of precious sleep soothe my soul
From the dark erosion of waking mind,
And the promise of your presence is whole,
Unbroken as I leave real life behind.
In these dreams, we linger long together
Ethereal moments slip by like air
Coursing through time, untouched by forever,
For all that matters is that we are there.
And yet if we loved in day as in night,
I would give up dark, for precious daylight.
